Moto Iron 18” × 2.5” Rear Scrambler Wheel for 1973-2003 Harley-Davidson Big Twin and Sportster

Moto Iron 18” × 2.5” Rear Scrambler Wheel for 1973-2003 Harley-Davidson Big Twin and Sportster

Moto Iron 18” × 2.5” Rear Scrambler Wheel for 1973-2003 Harley-Davidson Big Twin and Sportster

If you're looking to run enduro tires (or full knobbies!) on a scrambler or building a leggy-looking chopper, an 18" rear wheel is an excellent choice. In the case of the scrambler, it permits use of aggressive tires, and in the case of the chopper, it nets that tall, lean look seen on Sportsters and early Big Twins.

  • Manufactured to meet or exceed OEM specifications
  • 18” × 2.5”
  • Precision CNC-machined billet aluminum hub, not a three-piece welded steel hub
  • Chrome finish features triple chrome plated hub, spokes, and rim
  • Black finish has triple chrome plated spokes, and black powder coated hub and rim
  • Unique sealed rim accepts either tubeless or tube-type tires
  • Hub laced to wheel rim and trued—just mount a tire and install
  • 3/4" ID tapered roller bearings for long life
  • Chrome center-exit valve stem included

Mating an 18" rim to a later hub has always been a custom-laced item—until now. Now you can get that early, handsome look on a late-model machine with ease. In addition to offering a parts combo that's hard to purchase off the shelf, Moto Iron™ spoked wheels are a step above the generic wheels you might find elsewhere.

This wheel offers a smart, finished appearance for your motorcycle. In addition to the custom hub and rim combo, this wheel has a particularly unique feature—it sports sealed spokes. Normally a tube-type tire needs to be used with a conventionally spoked wheel, but this Moto Iron wheel does not require a tube to be used, expanding your selection of compatible tires (and especially helpful for those who suffer a flat when off the pavement.)

Moto Iron wheels also stand out due to the hub construction—rather than the three-piece, welded steel hubs you'll find on most other wheels, Moto Iron wheels feature a one-piece, precision-CNC-machined aluminum hub for strength, exceptional appearance, and dimensional consistency. These wheels ship with the correct spacers for a bolt-in installation on 1982 to 2003 Harley-Davidson Sportsters and many Big Twins; see fitment notes for more information.

For safety and ease of mounting, we recommend using a tube-type, vintage-construction tire with all Moto Iron spoked wheels. This is primarily due to the high aspect ratio—the generous sidewall makes mounting fairly easy.

The wheels accept tubeless tires due to the sealed spoke design. However, the seal's additional thickness reduces the effective depth of the drop center. That reduction, coupled with modern tires that can feature stiff sidewalls, may make the installation of some tire and wheel combinations challenging.

Due to this, TC Bros. is not responsible for damage caused by attempts to install modern tires with short, stiff sidewalls onto Moto Iron spoked wheels.
